Shakira is transforming her upcoming Madrid residency into something much bigger than a series of concerts.
Ahead of the European residency of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, the Colombian superstar has unveiled Es Latina, an ambitious cultural program that will bring together music, literature, fashion, art, gastronomy and dance across four weekends in the Spanish capital.
The residency begins September 18 at Iberdrola Music and continues through October 11, with 12 concert dates scheduled in Madrid.
As part of Es Latina, Shakira will welcome an eclectic lineup of Spanish and Latin American talent, including Amaia, Nathy Peluso, Santos Bravos, Guitarricadelafuente, Lia Kali, Gale, Aria Vega, Louta, Maro and Yerai Cortés.
The program will also give visibility to a new generation of artists, with emerging acts including Iza Tkm, Ángeles Toledano, J Noa, Nico and Yapi, alongside performers connected to Spain’s Benidorm Fest.
More Than a Concert Residency
Es Latina was conceived as a cultural platform rather than simply an extension of Shakira’s live show.
According to the project’s official website, the initiative reflects Shakira’s vision of creating a space where Latin identity can be experienced through creativity, collaboration and cultural exchange.
The concept expands far beyond the main stage. Programming surrounding the concerts is expected to include exhibitions, conversations, workshops, cinema, literature and food experiences, turning Madrid into a temporary meeting point for creators and audiences from across the Spanish-speaking world.
Literature will also play an important role in the experience, with programming inspired in part by the work of Colombian Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez. The larger cultural environment will include spaces devoted to books, fashion, visual art and Latin American gastronomy.
A Platform for Latin Talent
By inviting established names alongside emerging performers, Shakira is positioning Es Latina as a showcase for the diversity of contemporary Latin culture.
Artists such as Nathy Peluso and Amaia arrive with major international audiences, while younger acts will have an opportunity to perform within one of the highest-profile music events taking place in Spain this year.
The mix also reflects a broader cultural conversation that stretches beyond nationality or musical genre, bringing Spanish and Latin American artists together under one platform.
For Shakira, whose career has long connected Latin America, the United States and Europe, the concept feels like a natural evolution of the global reach of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran era.
Madrid Becomes the Center of Shakira’s World
The scale of the residency itself is significant. Madrid authorities are preparing for approximately 57,000 attendees per concert date, with transportation and public-safety measures planned around Iberdrola Music.
But Es Latina gives the residency another dimension.
Instead of audiences arriving only to watch Shakira perform, the project invites them into a broader celebration of the music, stories, creativity and traditions shaping Latin culture today.
With Shakira at the center and artists such as Amaia, Nathy Peluso, Santos Bravos and Guitarricadelafuente joining the festivities, Madrid is preparing to become one of the world’s biggest stages for Latin culture this fall.
