Authorities are investigating the fatal incident that occurred during the band’s sold-out performance in New York City.

A tragic accident overshadowed a sold-out concert by rock band Goose at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night after a fan died following a fall from an upper-level seating area inside the iconic New York venue.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers responded to the incident at approximately 9:51 p.m., where they found a 51-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive after falling from an elevated section of the arena.

The concertgoer was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding the fall remain under active investigation.

Reports indicate the man had been attending the concert with his wife and was seated in Section 300 of Madison Square Garden before the incident occurred.

Officials have not disclosed what led to the fall or whether any additional factors may have contributed.

Goose Issues Statement

Following the heartbreaking news, Goose shared a message on social media expressing condolences to the victim’s family and everyone impacted by the tragedy.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show. We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”

The concert marked the band’s second consecutive sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden as part of its tour supporting the new album Big Modern!

Despite the incident, Goose remained scheduled to perform at Central Park SummerStage the following day.

A Reminder of a Similar Tragedy

The fatal accident is the second deadly fall involving a concert attendee at a major New York-area venue in recent years.

In 2021, a fan died after falling from a stadium balcony during a Dead & Company concert at Citi Field in Queens. That incident occurred during intermission and also prompted discussions about venue safety at large entertainment events.

Fans Mourn the Loss

News of Saturday’s tragedy quickly spread across social media, where fans expressed their condolences and shared messages of support for the victim’s loved ones.

As investigators continue to examine what happened, the music community is once again reminded of the importance of safety at live events, while friends, family, and fellow concertgoers mourn the unexpected loss of a fan who had gathered simply to enjoy an evening of live music.
