NEW YORK, NY — October 27, 2026 — The New York Mobile Film Festival (NYMFF) is preparing to celebrate a defining milestone in 2027: its 10th Anniversary Edition, marking a decade of championing independent filmmakers, embracing emerging technologies, and expanding opportunities for creative voices from around the world.

Founded on the belief that compelling storytelling should not be limited by access to expensive equipment or traditional production resources, the New York Mobile Film Festival has established an international platform for filmmakers who use accessible technology to bring their creative visions to life.

From smartphones and tablets to drones and emerging mobile technologies, the festival has consistently challenged conventional ideas about filmmaking, celebrating originality, artistic vision, and technological innovation.

As mobile production tools continue to advance, independent filmmakers are gaining unprecedented opportunities to produce professional-quality content, experiment with new storytelling formats, and share perspectives that might otherwise remain unseen.

The festival’s 10th anniversary represents not only a celebration of its history but also an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to discovering emerging talent and building bridges between technology, creativity, and global communities.

Looking Ahead: The 2027 Anniversary Edition

Scheduled for September 16, 2027, the New York Mobile Film Festival’s anniversary edition will celebrate the festival’s evolution while exploring the future of mobile filmmaking.

With New York City as its cultural home, the festival continues to position mobile filmmaking within a global creative landscape shaped by innovation, accessibility, diversity, and independent expression.

The festival welcomes eligible mobile-produced works across several competitive categories, including Short Film (Cinematic), New Media, Music Video, and Student.

Projects may be produced using eligible mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, drones, and 360-degree cameras, providing filmmakers with opportunities to explore creative approaches beyond conventional production methods.

Eligible projects must have a running time of one to ten minutes, including credits, and comply with the festival’s production and technical requirements.

Filmmakers are encouraged to explore the possibilities of mobile storytelling and present compelling narratives, original perspectives, and innovative creative approaches.
