Christina Aguilera kicked off her new Las Vegas residency at the very end of 2023, but she’s postponing some shows at the start of the new year due to illness.
On her Instagram Story, Xtina announced Wednesday that she had come down with the flu and would be back on stage in a few weeks. “After welcoming all of you to the new year from the stage in Las Vegas, I’ve been welcomed with a new year flu!” the “Fighter” singer wrote. “I am sorry to share that my two shows this weekend will be rescheduled while I rest — and I cannot wait to be back on that stage in a few weeks.”
She added, “I’m incredibly proud of this show and grateful for all of the support and love after opening weekend! See you soon.”
Once she recovers, Aguilera’s got a busy year ahead of her. In addition to the residency, which she launched with a pair of shows on Dec. 30 and 31, she’ll serve as executive producer on a stage adaptation of her 2010 film musical Burlesque — though that doesn’t yet have a premiere date.
The 43-year-old pop diva paid tribute to the film and her costar in it, Oscar winner Cher, back in October, dressing up as the “Wagon Watusi” icon in her ’80s heyday.
“On my favorite day of the year it’s only right to turn back time and tribute the OG trailblazer,” Aguilera tweeted. “Cher’s message through her music and style has left a permanent mark on the world and to this day, I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to work with such a legend!”
