José Martínez is an Award-winning bilingual journalist, a radio personality and a TV anchor.

He hosts “Zona Capital” airing weekdays at 9am ET on TU RITMO.

José serves as US Correspondent for Ycodendaute Radio Tenerife, Spain, covering politics, education and immigration, and is a BronxNet News Immigration Analyst, appearing on programs such as BronxBuzz.

José is the former Editor in Chief of the Online Edition of Noticia Long Island where he was also the Director and Host of Café con José, “the most important Spanish talk show on Long Island”, according to Voices Of New York, noting the show brought the Hispanic community’s most distinguished representatives to the screen to tell their stories, a contrast to the partisan postures of other news formats. In a 2017 profile, Noticia called José a “dedicated reporter” and “a rising star” who “is a voice for the Hispanic and immigrant community”. José received a 2017 Media & Journalism Award by the Colombian American Chamber of Commerce and Nassau County, New York and the Media of the Year in Latinus 20 Under 30 2017.

As an interviewer, José has conducted exclusive interviews with Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, New York City Mayor Candidate Rocky De La Fuente, New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, Mayor of Hempstead Wayne Hall Sr., Freeport Trustee Carmen Piñeyro, and a range of policymakers and experts. José also serves as a host for the show “Mi Long Island” airing Thursdays at 7pm on Latinus TV.

José worked at El Tiempo and City TV in Colombia, where he was born. He graduated from the University of Cartagena, and studied Broadcasting News at the University of Central Florida. He was awarded a scholarship from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, and he is a member of the Education Writers Association.
